South Norwood Drugs Raid

Two people were arrested following a drugs raid at a barbers shop in Portland Road, SE25 (14 November 2012).
Officers from the Woodside Safer Neighbourhoods Team, supported by colleagues from South Norwood, Addiscombe, Ashburton and Crystal Palace Triangle teams, attended the address after getting a search warrant under section 23 of the misuse of drugs act.

Officers found a quantity of what is believed to be cocaine at the premises and two men in their 30s were arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs. Both men were taken into police custody and were later released on bail to return to a south London police station in early January 2013 pending forensic enquiries.

PC Mark Weaving, from the Woodside Safer Neighbourhoods Team said:
“This operation was part of Operation Hawk targeting drug supply and use in local neighbourhoods across London. If we receive information from the public about possible drug use or supply, then we will take action and apply for search warrants through the courts and look to arrest and charge any people involved in drugs.
“We would encourage the local residents of Woodside to contact if they have any concerns about criminality or antisocial behaviour in their area - as we’ve shown here, we will take positive action.”
